What happens when we die?
We can speculate.
It’s fun to talk about alternative realities, string theory, different dimensions, and simulations, but no one has a definitive answer.
In an interview with Stephen Colbert, Keanu Reeves was asked, “What do you think happens when we die.”
He said, “I know those that love us, will miss us.”
It’s probably the most honest, and heartfelt answer I’ve ever heard to this question.
When the ones we love are alive, we create beautiful memories, and when they are called to leave, the treasured times we shared are used as love to sustain us through our grief.
It allows the grief to go away slowly, because it’s mixed with beauty and sorrow.
It’s both painful and healing. We must feel both because one cannot exist without the other.
The ultimate question is futile.
Tomorrow is special because it’s not guaranteed.
I try to remember this with every interaction with another.
